Style Personality: Casual
The way we dress says a lot about who we are. We can communicate so much without saying a word, simply by what we choose to put on our bodies at any given time.
This topic has intrigued me for as long as I can remember, both the kind of personal style that I want to create and the way others express themselves.
Personal style is a key role in the tapestry of self-expression. Our clothes, accessories, and overall appearance are not just about fashion, they tell a story about who we are, what we value, and how we see the world. Note: I believe style and fashion are not one in the same. Fashion tends to address trends and time-specific designs. Style extends beyond both.
When it comes to what you wear and how you wear it, your essence comes through and communicates on your behalf, even if you’re not trying to communicate anything specifically.
I mapped out how different traits and characteristics come through via six specific style personalities:
Casual
Chic
Edgy
Low Key
Quirky
Trendsetter
Today, we’re going to focus specifically on the traits of those who have a casual style.
In a lot of ways, those who have a casual style are super chill. Don’t get me wrong, they have their passions and the things that light their fire, but in terms of what other people pick up on, they don’t seem overly concerned with rigidity or frivolity.
Casual style peeps often prioritize a balanced lifestyle, mixing work with pleasure without getting too caught up in either (though, I’m of the belief that everyone could use more pleasure in life).
Comfort takes priority for casual stylers, obvi, and they’re much less excited about formal and glitzy things, that shit’s for the birds.
Perhaps it’s their nonchalant behavior that makes them feel approachable—whether the approaching is welcomed or not. After all, lightheartedness is attractive to those who put minimal time and energy into drama and conflict.
For casual stylers, waiting in line for hours for a concert or an amusement park is usually a pretty hard “no.” That is, unless it’s regarding something that they’re really passionate about.
All that said, personal style empowers us, connects us with others, and adapts as we grow. It’s a vital form of self-expression that reflects our individuality, values, and creativity.
