January Color Palette

I have this distinct memory sitting in the back of my mom’s periwinkle minivan as a kid, probably around 10 years old, deeply pondering why colors look better with some more than others.

Over time, of course, I learned about color theory and psychology. It’s all so beautifully complex and much more interesting than I had ever hoped for as a kid.😝

As broad of a topic color is, it’s played a central role in my life. In fact, my first (payroll) job was a color consultant at Sherwin Williams.🌈

My role included visiting customers’ homes, bulky color deck and palette pamphlets in-hand, and going through the rooms in which they were painting. Ideally, I would walk out of there with the customers feeling confident and decisive when ordering in the store.

Then moving from color consulting, I worked at a local design agency for a few years. As one of two in-house designers, we were working with color and form daily.

All that to say, I’m obsessed with color.

For every one of my client projects that include creating custom color palettes, I name each color in relation to the respective brand. With that concept in mind, I’m going to share monthly color palettes because that is what I consider fun.

Here’s January’s color palette. Enjoy!
