Feeling Uninspired? Read This.
A few weeks ago I wrote a blog post about burnout. I’ve been experiencing this recently and sometimes it feels like an inescapable rut of no inspiration and no motivation.
So today, I’m going to share some things that help get me in the flow (when it actually feels available to do so).
Scroll through Pinterest
This is probably no surprise, especially if you’re familiar with the content I share. When I’m feeling particularly uninspired, sometimes I’ll just explore Pinterest with no intent on getting anything out of it besides taking in some fun visuals and ideas. Being in a state of minimal inspiration and motivation, putting less on your plate is ideal. So, go into it without intention to take anything from it besides dedicated time.
Get outside
Yes, what they say is true, getting outside can help mental health and spark some creativity. Stepping away from screens and the confines of your home and/or workspace offers physical and emotional space to dedicate to our natural roots, literally.
Surround yourself with art
Sure, perusing art isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But, for those who are consciously aware of a lack of inspiration are likely the ones who seek a spark to get their momentum going again. Go to an art museum, check out public installation art/murals, step into an art store that you haven’t been to before, go to a play. It doesn’t have to be complicated.
Thumb through books and magazines
Whether starting a new book or flipping through magazines sounds more appealing, having a tangible source of inspiration can help. I’m more of a visual thinker, so when the inspiration well is all dried up, sitting down with something filled with visuals hits different.
Seek out inspiring people
Being around creative people brings out a special kind of inspiration, personally. Seeing the passion and being around that energy can rub off on ya. And also, being around people IRL can also seem like a lot, so good ol’ Youtube is also a great resource.
Of course, there are so many outlets for inspiration and everyone will benefit from different resources. Food for thought!
