Spring Clean It Like You Mean It!
SPRING CLEAN IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT!
Ah yes, spring cleaning season. Not gonna lie, I love it. And with the astrological madness this month (like both the lunar eclipse and Mercury stationing retrograde on the 14th, and the upcoming partial solar eclipse on the 29th ๐ฎโ๐จ๐ฎโ๐จ๐ฎโ๐จ) the decluttering, shedding, and cleaning vibes couldn't be more prevalent.
With that in mind, here are some things to consider whenever you decide to dig in:
I've done my fair share of closet audits and I can tell you the most effective way to do it is to take every. single. item out of your closet (and drawers!). Hold (not just glance at) each item and decide whether to keep it, set it aside to alter (or make any other necessary adjustments), or to donate/sell it. It's a commitment but, as I mentioned, it'll be far more worthwhile than the alternative.
In fact, Closet Audit is a section in the Dare to Wear guide. Snag the flow chart to help your process here:
ORGANIZERS
After going through your *entire* closet, putting it all back in a systemized way will LITERALLY CHANGE YOUR LIFE! Get yourself some organizational toolsโlike these drawer organizers pictured, hanging organizers, etc. I can't stress them enough!
BEYOND THE WARDROBE
Of course, spring cleaning applies to the whole house, not just the closet. Here's a shortlist:
Plan ahead:
Go through the house and make a list of the items/locations that need attention (getting fixed, painted, WD-40'd, etc.) Don't worry about when at this stage. Just identify.
As you come across areas that could use organizational tools, like a broom hook, laundry organizer bins, and so on, add them to a purchase list.
Declutter: Make a plan ahead of time: either knock it out in phases or designate a chunk of time to deep dive. When going through each room, sort items into piles: keep, alter/fix, donate/sell, junk.
Deep Clean: Dust, vacuum, mop, wipe down appliances, toilets, counters, baseboards, scan for cobwebs.
Fabric & Carpet Cleaning: If you have carpets (and/or rugs) around your house, identify the ones that need deep cleaned. Make a plan to do it yourself or hire it out.
Sending patience, motivation, and fresh slate vibes!
Letโs do it together!
I do in-person and virtual closet audits. We identify your goals (like getting rid of items that you no longer want/need, come up with an organizational system, and so on) and designate 4 hours to do it together. If this sounds like something youโor someone you knowโneed, now's your chance!
