I don’t want to hear your resolutions…

…and here’s why.

I’m going to say it, and I’m not sorry: I don’t want to hear your New Year’s resolutions

They’re a scam. We’ve been sold this idea that January 1 is some kind of reset button where we’ll suddenly become these highly disciplined, sparkly new versions of ourselves.

It’s giving toxic productivity, and we’re not about that life.

So, here are my thoughts about starting the new year in a way that feels good (and sustainable):

1. Reflect on the past year (the good, the BS, and the meh)

If you didn't read last week's newsletter, crack that baby open and let those Qs, prompts, and affirmations guide this section. Before we think about, envision, set goals, etc. about what’s next, take a sec to catch up with the reality of it all. What went well this year? What sucked? Moving forward without understanding where you've been isn't setting a solid foundation.

2. Ease into 2025

You don’t need to hit the ground running. In fact, you don’t need to hit the ground at all. Crawl into 2025 if you have to. Take January to rest, recover from the holiday madness, and let the year come to you. We’re playing the long game.

3. Set the vibes, not the laundry list of things you're going to do

What’s the energy you want to carry into this year? Confidence? Accountability? Rest? Pick your vibe and let it guide your choices and actions. Do something with what you decide; even if it's writing it on a post-it and putting it on your mirror (or whatever your version of that is, just don't think about it for 10 minutes then move on).

4. Plan for consistency (because consistency > motivation)

The key is making the transition to a better version of yourself easy, enjoyable, and attainable. The point is to keep showing up, not to cross off every item on the checklist.

TL;DR: Resolutions are out. Slow but steady is in.

You don’t need a new year to make all these life changes. You've done a lot already, settle that goodness with yourself before continuing on.

Happy New Year!
