A Note + Cute Things

We're tender. We're still processing. We're seeking community and support as the countdown begins.

I want to start by saying: you are loved. You are appreciated. You have people (and ancestors) in your corner and will be next to you as this next chapter unfolds.

The first portion of this blog post is going to be surrounding resources that could be beneficial to you and/or your people. This is not intended to fear monger, but to prompt thoughts and plans to protect yourself, even if just for peace of mind. The second portion is all about cuteness. Take what you need.

Here's the deal: we have a couple months before Tr*mp gets inaugurated.

HERE ARE SOME RESOURCES

My dear friend @iamerinbrown shared some insights about resource gathering on her Instagram stories. The higlight is on her profile labeled as “Resources.”

Key takeaways from Erin's stories about resource gathering:

  • Medication: are there medications that you're on that may be in jeopardy? Can you meet with your doctor to discuss options? If you're undergoing hormone replacement therapy or using other gender-affirming medications or supplies, consider getting additional stock, as access could become limited.

  • Queer peeps: it's unclear what will happen with marriage legalities. Now could be a good time (if you haven't already) to seek out attorneys (for marriage, medical, etc.) Also: tap in to your local queer community—Facebook groups are a great resource to make connections.

  • Plan B, abortion medications, birth control, pregnancy tests: Seeing as we don't know what's exactly to come, stocking up on these medications may be helpful, even if you don't plan on using them currently/for yourself.

  • Active local and national community members: these networks can offer support, resources, and solidarity in times of crisis.

Additionally, research legal resources and seek consultations with professionals who specialize in reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and civil rights to understand your protections and options could be good top-of-the-list action items.

  • Insurance/healthcare: plan finances for potential healthcare restrictions: if changes are made to insurance coverage or access, be prepared with a financial safety net (if possible) for essential healthcare expenses.

  • Stay informed and engage in advocacy efforts: keep up-to-date on local, state, and federal policy changes and advocate for rights where possible.

WHEW! Okay, let’s take a breath.

This shit is heavy, so let's wrap things up on a positive note.

We will be okay. Love you, boo boo.
